Winemaker Notes
This wine is a blend of mostly new barrels from three of our best vineyards - Seven Springs, Anden, and Freedom Hill. While tasting the single vineyard wines from those sites, I decided that the amount of oak was excessive for the single vineyard wines and decided to declassified the wine aged in 14 new French oak barrels and two used barrels. To calm down the oak flavors, the blended wine was fined with gelatin and a small dose of egg white and bottled after a light filtration.
Tasting notes
The 2001 Willamette Valley has a mix of red and black fruits with spice and hints of red flowers. Medium bodied and less complex than our single vineyard wines, it represents an excellent value. It was bottled in early June and continues to develop.
